How very proud I am of our students for the way in which they conducted themselves at the recent school commemorative service and the community march. Their behaviour was exemplary, demonstrating their understanding of the significance of this important day.
S6GT students did a fantastic job in hosting the school service and are to be commended in the way they conducted themselves throughout this ceremony. Thanks to Neroli Gilmour and to S6GT.
NAPLAN Testing Time Again
Our students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 7 will soon participate in the annual National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) to assess their skills and understanding in the areas of reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The tests will be conducted in all state and non-state schools across the country from 14–16 May. An individual NAPLAN report for each child will be sent home later this year. Results provide additional feedback for parents, carers and teachers on how students are progressing in key curriculum areas. Please contact the school if you have any questions about your child participating in NAPLAN testing. Further information is available on the ACARA website - http://www.nap.edu.au/\.
Starting time on each day of the tests is 8:55am. We have to commence at this time to fit all of the test items and the designated breaks into first session. It is essential that students in Years 3, 5 & 7 are at school by 8:40am each day to organise themselves in preparation for the tests. A good night’s sleep and a good breakfast will also assist in ensuring our students are ready to concentrate to achieve their very best in the tests. We know that our students have been very well prepared and we wish them all the very best for the 14th - 16th May.
