This week we saw the footings and slab poured for the new hall. It was a hive of activity with excavators and concrete trucks coming and going.
Everyone is very excited and we will keep you up to date with the construction as it progresses.
This week Yarrilee celebrated its 10th year of operations. The day kicked off with the students and staff arranging themselves into the YSS logo on the oval. Shortly after, a plane flew over to take some ariel photographs. A yummy sausage sizzle kept everyone feed and a concert in the afternoon provided the entertainment. As the event coincided with World Teacher’s Day, the teachers were presented with a lanyard and a gift. A big thanks goes out to all staff, students and parents who helped organise the events. Next week we will have commemorative shirts, coffee mugs and wine glasses on sale. Please see the office for purchase orders.
Although we have allocated our fundraising levy to be our main avenue of raising money this year, we are looking for people to join our fundraising Sub-Committee to assist with the organization of other activities. If you are interested please leave your name at the Office.
Our first disco for the year will be Friday 15th May. Discos are supported by the P&C and teachers but we will require parent help for this event to take place. We need parent helpers in the tuckshop, selling “glow sticks”, security, gate entrance and to assist in packing away. Put the date in your diary!
Cherie Harding, one of our Vice Presidents, has taken on the job of organizing mini Easter Raffles. Instead of having one large raffle each mini school will hold their own smaller raffles meaning a greater chance for all ticket holders to win a prize. We are looking for small donations of eggs, baskets, cellophane etc to your class teacher in order that each class can participate in creating a prize or two. Raffle tickets will be only 50 cents each. What a bargain!
Fundraising levy monies continue to come in and we thank all those families. Do not forget if you return your levy by 30th March you go in the draw to win 2 nights accommodation and breakfast at Kondari Resort, generously donated to us by Kondari Resort.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, 22nd April at 9.00am in the staff room. If you require childcare to attend, please let us know by Tuesday, 21st April so we can make arrangements.
We have been presented with some worthy school projects to consider allocation of P&C funds.
