In the last three weeks of Term Two, the class undertook a mini-unit study on Poetry. We looked at five types of poetry consisting of a haiku, limerick, rap, rhyme and onomatopoeia. The students really embraced this and had amazing fun (even the boys)!
I then had the students create a book of poetry on the computer and they had to create one poem of each type, edit their poem and type it into the book choosing their own font type and size. The students then were able to select pictures using clipart and enter pictures which were relevant to their poems. After they were printed out the students then coloured in their book of poems and were ready to take them home.
I hope you enjoyed them. I also asked the students to choose a favourite poem and I recorded into onto my laptop and have put them up onto the blog. The students really enjoyed this part and hopefully later on in the year they will be able to create a podcast for themselves which is a recording of their voice which is put onto the internet!
Below is your child’s recording of their poem. To open, please right click the link and choose save as and download it to your computer to play it.

On the first day of school we were told that we won’t be doing the news report anymore but would be doing speeches later in the term. Our unit this term is “WATERWISE”, where we learn all about the water cycle and how it is important not to waste water.
It is Anzac Day this Saturday 25th April. The school is having a special Anzac Day Assembly on Friday at 10am. We have made a special wreath to commemorate the brace effort of the Anzacs and all those who have served Australia in war. The wreath is made of cut outs of our hands and red poppies that we have made out of cardboard. We will participate in an Anzac Day March on Saturday where we will meet at the Woolworths Car Park.

Mr Dugdale is our Physical Education teacher or PE Teacher. This term we have been learning how to do discus and will be learning about athletic events such as long jump, high jump and shot put. We will all learn sprints and relays also, hopefully with lots of training we will be faster than Mr Elson (probably not though).
Last term we were learning how to dribble a basketball and also how to shoot the ball in the hoop. We dribbled through our legs, practiced spinning the ball and bounce the ball with left hand as well as right.
PE is fun!

Music Blog
Music is very fun, Mrs Rostedt is our music teacher. She is very nice and funny. This week we played fun instruments like drums and we played games like musical statues and we watched a movie to do with music.
We saw Mrs Rostedt play the electric bass guitar. She is very good and we would love to be able to play like her when we are older. If we try hard maybe we will!

On Wednesday, MME had Chinese with Mr. Wang. This week we learnt how to say congratulations which is gong xi fa cai. On that same afternoon we had music and PE, we worked on our basketball dribbling skills with Mr. Dugdale at PE and sang “I Got A Car That’s Made Of Tin” at music.
On Friday we learnt how plants drink by standing celery sticks up in a cup of red food dye. After about an hour the red food dye had been sucked up 10 cms into the celery through its veins.
The class is split into groups of 4, 5 or 6 students and the group who shows the best behaviour during the week receives a reward. This week team T-Rex received that reward!

Below is a voki, press play to hear a message. The students and I have been playing around with them. You are able to choose any sort of avatar (character) including famous politicians, animals, cartoon characters and ordinary people. You can also customize the avatar to have glasses or jewellery and even change their facial features.
The students are also able to record their own voice and play it through the voki through the use of a microphone or simply type in what you want the voki to say. Have a look at www.voki.com to make your own. You will need to register before you can create your own!
