Yesterday E block went to the assembly area to watch Living History. Two men told us to listen carefully about what we were going to do.
Firstly the man told us about the history of Tug-of-war when the vikings first used it for pulling down trees. When we played tug-of-war the teams were Saxon, Normans, Vikings, Angles. The vikings won. Next it was boys vs girls and the girls lost twice.
Next after first break we had the combat started. It was funny to watch because they started it off with a bang on the shield. One went bang loud and the other went louder. The battle started and the eastern won but when they did it without a shield the western won.
After lunch we did hands on and we got to try on all the things that were out. We got to pick up swords and pick up shields and many other things. When we did archery it was fun. Nearly everyone had to go twice. The man showed us how to used a bow and arrow. No one got on the shield but some people got further than others and some didn’t get far.
Finally the day was the best day ever. I wish that I could do it again but we didn’t do Indoor games or dancing. It was the best thing ever.
We learnt about people that lived in the Medieval times and what they do.

Today we experienced medieval life thanks to a visit from the Living History troup. Characters emerged from the tent to tell the tales of life from their point of view. We became part of the history by asking questions, joining in the role plays and participating in the activities that were typical of the Medieval times. We were so lucky to be able to learn history in such a fun and interesting way!

Welcome to the Middle CG blog. The students are hoping to publish some of the recounts written by MCG in the next 2 weeks.
I will be using the blog to set homework for the week. Each night the students must do one activity from Rainforest Maths. The weekly spelling words will also be posted for the students to study.
