Welcome

We are one of two Year 5 classes consisting of 23 students. We participate in a varied curriculum that focuses on intellectual, emotional, social and physical development. Students are encouraged to develop independent learning skills and are given many opportunities to do this through research tasks, sporting activities, music, assembly, student council and student leader programs. It is going to be a very busy year, so please check here regularly for the latest news!

What is happening in Semester 1?...

 

In this unit, students listen to, read, view and interpret a range of news articles and reports from journals and newspapers to respond to viewpoints portrayed in media texts.
Students apply comprehension strategies, focusing on particular viewpoints portrayed in a range of media texts. They create a digital multimodal news article, including written and visual elements, from a particular viewpoint.

Unit 3 in detail

In Mathematics students will be working with 2D shapes and learning about their properties.

Our SOSE (Studies of Society & Environment) unit this term is 'Eureka!' Students will be looking at the history of gold, its uses in todays world and the effect of mining on early Australia.

Unit 1 in detail

In this term's science unit student will be exploring the place of Earth in the solar system and then using this knowledge to look for patterns and relationships between components of this
system. They discover how science and technology have advanced understanding of space.
